Before you travel
- Day 1 is a Port Blair day. Land by early afternoon so the Cellular Jail visit and Corbyn's Cove both fit in.
- On Day 2, ferries from Port Blair to Havelock start early. The jetty is about 9 to 10 km from the city hotels, so be ready in good time. On Day 5 the airport transfer takes about 25 to 30 minutes, so book a return flight for early afternoon or later.
- The Cellular Jail and its museum are closed on Mondays and national holidays, and shut for lunch from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. The evening Light and Sound show runs in English on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6:50 PM and in Hindi on other nights from about 5:50 PM, and lasts around 45 minutes. Still-camera charges at the Cellular Jail are payable directly, about INR 200 per camera.
- Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep) has limited mobile and internet coverage and the beaches have no ATMs, so carry enough cash for water sports, snacks and meals.
- The Natural Rock Formation (Howrah Bridge) at Laxmanpur is best seen at low tide, when the pools reveal corals, crabs and small fish. At high tide it can only be viewed from a distance. Wear sturdy, water-friendly footwear on the rocks and walk carefully.
- Breakfast is included as per the day plan. Any meal not listed for a day is payable directly, including lunches and dinners taken at cafes, shacks or restaurants.
- Water sports at Bharatpur Beach such as jet ski, sea walk and snorkelling are payable directly, roughly from INR 600 upward per activity, and run best between about 10 AM and 4 PM.
- A candlelight dinner can be arranged as an optional add-on on Havelock or Neil.
- Foreign nationals should check the current Restricted Area Permit rules for the Andaman Islands before travel, as these rules change from time to time.
