Before you travel
- Day 1 is a Port Blair day. Land by early afternoon so the Cellular Jail visit and the evening Light and Sound show both fit in.
- On Day 3, ferries from Port Blair to Havelock start early. The hotel-to-jetty run is about 9 km and takes 25 to 30 minutes, so be ready in good time. On Day 5 the airport transfer takes about 20 to 30 minutes, so book a return flight for early afternoon or later.
- The Cellular Jail and its museum are closed on Mondays and national holidays, and shut for lunch from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. The evening Light and Sound show runs in English on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6:50 PM and in Hindi on other nights from about 5:50 PM, and lasts around 45 minutes. Still-camera charges at the Cellular Jail are payable directly, about INR 200 per camera.
- Ross and North Bay Island on Day 2 are reached by the government harbour ferry from Port Blair, which runs in fixed morning batches and is weather dependent. North Bay has washrooms, changing rooms and snack stalls.
- Breakfast is included as per the day plan. Any meal not listed for a day is payable directly, including lunches and dinners taken at cafes, shacks or restaurants.
- Water sports at North Bay such as scuba, sea walk, snorkelling and glass-bottom rides are payable directly and are subject to weather and sea conditions.
- Littering on the Havelock beaches is prohibited and attracts a fine. Use the designated bins.
- Foreign nationals should check the current Restricted Area Permit rules for the Andaman Islands before travel, as these rules change from time to time.
