About this itinerary

Six nights for travellers who want to get past the usual circuit and into North Andaman. Two nights on Havelock cover Govind Nagar, Kalapathar and Radhanagar, then the trip pushes north to Diglipur.

From there you reach the Ross and Smith twin islands, joined by a sandbar, and Kalipur Beach, with the Baratang limestone caves on the long drive up. It suits travellers who accept two long road days for scenery few itineraries reach.

Before you travel

  • The Diglipur legs are long road journeys, roughly 9 to 12 hours each way from Port Blair, so Day 4 and Day 6 are travel days with scenic stops rather than sightseeing days.
  • The route to Diglipur runs in a government convoy through the Jarawa Tribal Reserve on the Andaman Trunk Road, with the Baratang caves as a stop. Convoys leave at fixed early-morning times, so the day starts before dawn. Photographing or interacting with the Jarawa is prohibited by law.
  • Ferry tickets are included and held once your trip is confirmed: the Port Blair to Havelock catamaran and the return. Catamarans open bookings 60 to 90 days out and morning slots fill first.
  • Ross and Smith is an offbeat spot with no shops, guides or lifeguards, only basic bamboo huts and changing rooms. Carry water, snacks and cash, and snorkel only if you are confident in open water.
  • Turtle nesting at Kalipur Beach runs only from October to March, when Leatherback, Hawksbill, Green and Olive Ridley turtles come ashore.
  • In Port Blair, Sagarika Government Emporium is open 9 AM to 7 PM and closed on Sundays; Aberdeen Bazaar is open 9 AM to 9 PM, Tuesday to Sunday.
  • Breakfast is included daily. Any meal not listed for a day is payable directly.
