Before you travel

The first days are based in Port Blair, so plan a Mumbai connection through Chennai, Bangalore or Kolkata that lands by early afternoon. The Ross and North Bay boats, the Havelock ferry and the Baratang convoy run to fixed timings confirmed with you in advance.

Ross Island and North Bay are reached by government harbour boat from Phoenix Bay, with tickets and the forest fee arranged locally.

The Port Blair to Havelock return ferry (Makruzz or Nautika) is booked and held once your trip is confirmed. Ferries open bookings 60 to 90 days out and morning slots fill first.

The Baratang trip runs in a government convoy through the Jarawa Tribal Reserve and starts before dawn, with a mangrove creek boat and a short trek to the limestone caves. Photographing or interacting with the Jarawa is prohibited by law.

The North Andaman legs to Rangat and Diglipur are long road journeys on the Andaman Trunk Road, roughly 6 to 10 hours in a day. The drives are scenic but tiring, so the pace suits travellers comfortable with road travel.

The Cellular Jail and its museum are closed on Mondays and national holidays, with a lunch break from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. The Light and Sound show runs in English on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at about 6:50 PM and in Hindi on other nights from about 5:50 PM.

Breakfast is included as per itinerary. Any meal not listed for a day is payable directly.

Water sports at North Bay are subject to weather and paid directly. Carry cash for water sports, permits and site payments, as card and online payments are often unavailable.
