Neil Island Escape 2N/3D — 2 Nights / 3 Days

A 2 nights 3 days escape to Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep), a small island of quiet beaches. Two slow days for Bharatpur Beach, Laxmanpur sunsets and the Howrah Bridge, with one ferry each way.

About this itinerary

Neil is the quietest of the main islands, about 13.7 square kilometres of beaches you can see at a walking pace. Two nights lets you settle in and enjoy it slowly rather than rushing through on a day trip.

Day 1 crosses to Neil for a Laxmanpur sunset. Day 2 is a full island day: Bharatpur Beach for water sports, the Howrah Bridge at low tide and another Laxmanpur sunset. Day 3 returns to Port Blair for the flight. It suits travellers who want calm beaches over a packed circuit.

Day-by-day itinerary

Every day below can be moved, shortened or swapped. Replanning is free — you only pay the difference in what you change.

  1. Day 1NeilArrival day

Arrival in Port Blair and Transfer to Neil Island

Land at Port Blair and transfer to Phoenix Bay Jetty for the ferry to Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep). On arrival, check in at your hotel and relax.

In the late afternoon, head to Laxmanpur Beach for the sunset, an unhurried stretch of sand ideal for a beach walk. Afterwards, savour snacks like noodles, pakoras and tender coconut water on the beach before returning to your hotel.

    • Opening Time: Open 24x7 (best at sunset, around 5:15 PM to 5:20 PM)
    • Suggested Duration: 1 hour
    • Ideal For: Sunsets, lounging, beach walks
    • Category: Beach & Recreation
Transfer: Private Cab + FerryTransfer duration: Cab about 15 min, Ferry about 1.5 to 2 hrsStay: Neil
  2. Day 2NeilSightseeing

Bharatpur Beach and the Howrah Bridge

After breakfast, head to Bharatpur Beach for swimming and snorkelling in the shallow, coral-rich water that suits non-swimmers. Try water sports like scuba diving, a sofa ride or a banana boat ride, or simply lounge on the sand. Spend the afternoon around Neil Kendra for souvenir shopping and lunch at a local cafe.

    • Opening Time: 5 AM to 6 PM
    • Suggested Duration: 3 hours
    • Ideal For: Water sports, beach walk, sunbathing
    • Category: Beach & Recreation

In the late afternoon, visit the Howrah Bridge, a limestone rock arch reachable only at low tide, with tidal pools full of marine life. Close the day with a sunset at Laxmanpur Beach before returning to your hotel.

    • Opening Time: Low tide only, timing varies daily
    • Suggested Duration: 1 hour
    • Ideal For: Rock formations, photography
    • Category: Nature
Transfer: Private CabTransfer duration: Full day local sightseeingStay: NeilBreakfast included
  3. Day 3Departure

Neil Island to Port Blair and Departure

After breakfast, check out and take the ferry from Neil back to Port Blair. On arrival at Phoenix Bay, transfer to Veer Savarkar Airport for your departure flight.

Is 2 nights on Neil Island too much?

Not if you want a slow beach trip. Neil is small, so two nights means unhurried mornings, sunsets at Laxmanpur and time to dive or snorkel at Bharatpur rather than rushing a day trip.

    Are the ferry tickets included?

Yes. Both catamaran legs, Port Blair to Neil and back, are booked and held once your trip is confirmed.

When can we see the Howrah Bridge?

Only at low tide, so the visit on Day 2 is timed to the tide. At high tide the arch is underwater, and the rocks are slippery, so wear shoes with a good grip.

What water sports are available at Bharatpur?

Scuba diving, sofa ride, banana boat and snorkelling, all payable directly. The shallow, coral-rich water suits non-swimmers and families.

What time should our flight land on Day 1?

By 12 PM. The last ferry to Neil leaves at 1:30 PM, so a morning arrival is essential to reach the island the same day.

What is the best time to visit Neil Island?

October to May for calm seas and clear skies. June to September brings monsoon weather and a higher chance of ferry cancellations.

Transfer: Private Cab + FerryTransfer duration: Cab about 10 to 15 min, Ferry about 1.5 to 2 hrsBreakfast included

Before you travel

  • Arrive at Veer Savarkar Airport, Port Blair by 12 PM on Day 1, by a morning flight, to catch the ferry to Neil. The last ferry departs at 1:30 PM. After that there are no ferries between Port Blair and Neil.
  • On Day 3, ferries from Neil to Port Blair operate from 9:00 AM onwards. Book a return flight at 1:00 PM or later so the transfer is unhurried.
  • The ferries decide this itinerary. Private catamarans open bookings 60 to 90 days out and the morning slots go first, so both ferry legs are held the moment your booking is confirmed.
  • The Howrah Bridge is reachable only at low tide, and the rocks are slippery, so the visit on Day 2 is timed to the tide. Wear shoes with a strong grip, ideally waterproof.
  • Water sports at Bharatpur (scuba, sofa ride, banana boat and similar) and refreshments are booked in advance or payable directly and depend on weather and sea conditions.
  • Breakfast is included on Day 2 and Day 3. Any meal not listed is payable directly.
